Leader Training

Trained leaders
are one of the hallmarks of the Scouting program and vital to our boys and parents having a successful Cub Scouts experience.

Every leader is required to complete Youth Protection Training prior to registering as a leader and working with youth in the Pack. The safety of our kids is the #1 concern of the BSA and trained leaders are better able to deliver a program that is both safe and fun.  Leaders must complete the Leader position-specific training for their pack position in order to wear the official "TRAINED" emblem. Training can be completed in an approved classroom setting or online. Evidence of completion of Youth Protection Training (YPT) should be attached to your adult leader application.

Log in or create a new account at My.Scouting.org to begin your training. Find this image at the home page and click on it to be redirected to the BSA Learn Center. Click on "Cub Scouting" and then select your Training Program.  Click on "Learning Plans" to add courses to your plan. Follow your progress by clicking the "My Learning" tab in the top menu bar where you can view completion status and link to training modules. Send evidence of completion, (pdf cert, screenshot, etc) of the 3 modules to committee.chair@pack841.com. Certificates of completion can be printed from the "My Learning" page.

A common issue is completed training not showing as completed. Use Chrome or Safari with popups allowed.  Access training modules through the MyLearning section of the BSA LearnCenter for most reliable results. Completion of a unit is based on meeting a specific slide count.  Allow all of the slides to play out to the end and don't skip through the training - click on all of the sections. Modules are currently not completing on mobile units.   If you are having difficulties with the site, contact the Pack or you may also contact the service center at scouting@myscouting.org or by calling 972-580-2489. Click here for instructions on how to change pop-up settings in Chrome.

Additional training may be required depending upon the activities you are doing with your den.  For example, Pack and Webelos overnighters require one adult present to have BALOO training. Weather Hazards, Safe Swim, other training may be required depending on the types of activities the scouts will be participating in.
