Family Campout

The Family Campout is coming up on Aug. 21-23, 2015  at the Reverend's Ridge Campground at Golden Gate Canyon State Park.  

From the South:
C-470 west to the LEFT exit for Hwy 6. Follow Hwy 6 West to Hwy 93. Continue north on Hwy 93 approximately 1 mile to Golden Gate Canyon Road. Turn left and follow Golden Gate Canyon Road 13 miles to the Visitor Center. The campground is approximately 5 miles from the Visitor Center. Turn right onto Mountain Base Road.  Turn Left at Gap Road, then a quick right onto Reverend's Ridge Road.  Check in to pay park fees either at the Visitor Center or at the ranger station at Reverend's Ridge.  (RVs or vehicles towing large trailers may prefer to follow Hwy 6 west to Hwy 119 traveling north through Blackhawk to Gap Road (approximately 11 miles). Turn right on Gap Road to access Reverend’s Ridge campground.)

Noon-6 pm            Check-in and Camp Setup

5:30-7:30 pm        Dinner (provided by the Pack) at HQ (Sites 80, 81, 82)

7:00-8:15 pm        Campfire Welcome, Activities, & Orientation -HQ

8:15-9:15 pm        Family time at campsites

9:30 pm                Lights out


7:30-9:30 am        Optional parent/child fishing outing – Led by Todd Gedemer

7:30-9:45 am        Breakfast on your own & Family time

9:45-10:00 am      Opening Ceremony at HQ

10:00-11:30 am    Geo-Caching – siblings welcome.  Led by Webelos 2 leaders

11:30 am-1:00 pm     Lunch (provided by the Pack) at HQ

1:00-1:30 pm        Station Activities – “A Scout is Prepared”

3:30-4:30 pm        Den skit & song practice time (den leaders will coordinate)

3:30-4:00 pm        Whittling Chip (only for Bears & Webelos)

4:30 – 6:00 pm     Family time/Free time

6:00 – 7:30 pm       Dinner (provided by the Pack) at HQ & Cleanup

7:30 -9:30 pm        Campfire activities (including s’mores)

9:45 pm                    Lights out


8:00-10:00 am            Dutch oven breakfast at HQ or on your own.  John Ark is leading the Dutch oven cook-off.  The more ovens we have, the more fun we have!  1st-timers are welcome!

10:00-10:30 am          Scouts Own Service/Closing Ceremony (Class A Uniform)

10:30-11:00 am          HQ Cleanup – Need everyone to help pitch in

11:00-Noon                Individual site teardown & Pack up

Noon                            Depart camp

1:00 PM                       Help cleanup equipment at the Snakard’s (Conf. Room B!)
